Unitary Patent Delay

The long-awaited start to the Unitary Patent (UP) and Unified Patent Court (UPC) has been put back by two months due to ongoing technical difficulties with the authentication requirements of the new Case Management System. The welcome delay will provide users with much-needed time to ensure systems are operational at the start of the sunrise period. The sunrise period is now expected to start on 1 March 2023, with the aim that the UP and UPC go live on 1 June 2023.

We will monitor possible developments to this timeline, including to the opt out process, and will keep our clients informed. If you have any specific questions, please get in touch with your usual contact at Slingsby Partners.
