Caroline Humphrey

Caroline has been in the patent profession since 2015.  She is a trainee patent attorney.  She has a first class Materials Science degree from Oxford University, a PhD from Cambridge University and has passed the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law with Distinction.

For her final year MEng thesis, she studied the heat treatment of alumina-based ceramics, with the aim of achieving a precipitation strengthened ceramic material.  Caroline was awarded the Gibbs Prize from Oxford University for outstanding performance and the A.T. Green Award from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining for the best National ceramics graduate.

She then went on to do a PhD at Cambridge University, where she studied a group of layered ceramic materials with unusual properties, using techniques such as nanoindentation, micropillar compression, neutron diffraction and synchrotron x-ray diffraction to study their deformation characteristics.

Caroline spent over three years working for an oilfield services company and is a listed inventor on four patent applications.
