Anne Campbell

Anne has been in the patent profession since 1998.  She is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney.   She has an engineering degree from Cambridge University.

Anne is experienced in advising clients on managing their IP portfolios to obtain maximum value for their business.  She likes to gain an in-depth understanding of the client’s business and market in order to advise the client on identifying their intellectual property and what should be protected, as well as advising on maintaining an established IP portfolio.   She also has experience in advising on third party issues relating to clients’ portfolios, including conducting freedom-to-operate analysis and providing opinions on infringement and validity of patents and patent applications, focusing on providing practical advice.  She is also adept at tailoring the clients’ own patent applications to take account of competitors’ business activities.  Anne has advised a number of start-ups and SMEs and is well-versed in handling IP ownership issues.

Anne has extensive experience in drafting patent applications and prosecuting them before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office, as well as experience at EPO hearings and in UK revocation proceedings.  Prior to joining Slingsby Partners, she worked in the London office of a US law firm, where she gained much experience in taking US-drafted patent applications before the European Patent Office and optimizing them for European law and practice.  She also gained first-hand experience of US patent prosecution through working with her US patent attorney colleagues.  She can advise on obtaining patent protection in other jurisdictions around the world and provide assistance in crafting a foreign filing strategy that takes account of the client’s resources and needs. 

Anne handles patent matters in all mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering disciplines and has particular experience in automotive technologies, clean technology, software, business methods, sports technology and medical devices.

Anne is a European Designs Attorney and has registered many designs on behalf of clients.  She is experienced in providing practical advice on how best to present views of a design and on including multiple designs in an application to maximize usefulness of design registration for the client.  She has also prosecuted design applications in a number of jurisdictions around the world.

Anne is also a Chartered Engineer and Member of the ImechE, having worked as an engineer in an automotive consultancy prior to joining the patent profession.
